Vintage Made Modern Tabletop / Chase + Scout

Stone Textile_Tabletop1

I recently learned about an Austin based company called Chase + Scout.  They collect vintage china and then screen print on top creating the perfect vintage meets modern look.  We are using their plates + tea cup/saucer sets at our SXSW Pop-Up Shop.   I love how their pieces mesh with our Diamond Print table linens.  We had a lot of fun putting this together yesterday.  Here are a few images from our set up…

What do you collect?

I think everyone should have some kind of collection..this week OKL founder Susan Feldman’s home was featured on Domaine.  She spoke about her love for decorative boxes and how she always ends up finding unique ones in her travels. Well Susan, I can totally relate.  I have slowly become a “box lady” myself.  I always loved hearing about what people collect.  For my grandmother, it was antique dinnerware and my mom still loves searching ornate glass pieces….I guess collections run in the family…what do you collect?

My favorite piece is this vintage deco style box that belonged to my grandfather.

The Modern Meets Vintage Table / Line we love: Casa de Perrin

Last week I posted the image above (which was the inspiration behind this post) while prepping for our Registry Shoot.  I love the modern mixed with vintage (how many times have I said that…ha).  When setting the table for events, dinner parties, and photo shoots I always love to incorporate both modern accessories with special vintage pieces to make the table design one of a kind.  This brings me to Casa de Perrin.  The California based rental company has been on my radar for a while, their collection is amazing.  They recently just launched their shop where you can purchase one of a kind dinnerware sets, flatware sets, and other unique table top accessories.  I thought it would be fun to use some of our modern Stone Textile table topaccessories mixed with some of my favorite vintage accessories from the Casa de Perrin collection to create a few dream tabletop designs….

Love This House…Lauren Santo Domingo’s Paris Duplex

We are starting off the week with one of my favorite homes of all time.  Lauren Santo Domingo’s Paris duplex has the perfect mix of Parisian glamour + modern accents.  I absolutely love the geometric fabric chosen for the draperies, overall a perfectly decorated home.

How beautiful are the original moldings?

I love the striped upholstered headboard.  Click below for more…

Antiquing / In My Genes…

I have mentioned my love for vintage/antique shopping many times on this blog.  A few weeks ago,  when we were driving home from a friend’s ranch house in West Texas, I made my husband pull over so I could take a photo of this antique store sign. He was very cooperative about this one.  Not sure if you know but, the “Stone” in Stone Textile comes from my  grandmother’s last name.  She was a collector and I was lucky enough to inherit those genes.  I actually called her Granny hence, the importance of this little sign.  She loved the hunt and finding that perfect piece that compliments your space and at the same time tells a story.   Below are a few images that I have “collected” of vintage pieces used in a modern setting…

Great shoe storage…

Love this retro looking armoire…

Caught in the act…Photographer Buff Strickland captured me at one of my favorite vintage stores in Austin, Uptown Modern for Rue Magazine.

Modern Meets Vintage No.1

I have said it 1000 times, I love mixing modern pieces with vintage elements.  I came across a few spaces that really take the modern meets vintage approach to a whole new level.  How cool is this dining room and kitchen?  Dining Space (above): Modern:  Concrete walls/floor, Minimalist Dining Table, + Metal Bar Cart  Vintage:  Chandelier, Candle Holders, + Dining Chairs

Kitchen:  Modern:  Marble, Stainless Appliances,  + Pendant Light   Vintage: Moulding (how beautiful?), Antique Oak Display Cabinets, + Mirror
