In the details…

Wow, I do not believe it is August already.  This year is flying!

Anyways,  I noticed a trend on my “fashion” pin board the other day.  I have a thing for metallics and I appreciate very intricate details. I always have and I like to apply that to my own designs.  The Stone Textile Metallic Square Pillow and The Metallic Middle Pillow are both good examples.   Above, I took pieces from a handful of my favorite clothing pins and highlighted the beautiful details.  What is your favorite?

Styled By Stone Textile…

A few months ago my very good friend Dana, of the popular jewelry line Dana Rebecca Designs, approached me about being a guest blogger on her DRD blog.  I of course said yes!  For the past three months I have been taking a trendy look (for example ombre, stripes, bright pops of color) and finding accessories within that trend  for the closet and for the home. Prior to launching Stone Textile, I worked in the fashion industry, for a bunch of years, so it is fun to step back into that whole world again! Today, the 3rd post is up and I wanted to share them all with you…

I would love to hear what you would like to see me play around with on my  next post!

NYC for Blogfest…

I arrived in New York on Saturday and today is the first day of Blogfest. I am really looking forward to the next few days.  Some highlights include, a private walk through of the Elle Decor Modern Life Concept House, listening to editors from House Beautiful, Traditional Home, and Veranda Magazine speak, and touring the Kravet fabric showroom and production studio.  Pretty amazing!  You can follow along on Instagram and Twitter for now and I will do a recap when I return…

Below are a few NYC street images I saw on The Sartorialist of course…

The Color Block

When I saw the ACNE resort 2012 collection last June, I was in the beginning stages of designing Collection No.1.  These images were the inspiration behind these very simple, yet sophisticated Color Block pillows.  They are set up like this in my office.

Proenza Schouler S12

A quick Proenza Schouler story…Almost ten years ago, I was interning at an Italian fine button and trim company in New York.  It was my first “job” in the design world.  I was given the task of taking what seemed to be around 50 lbs of button collection books to a random studio space in China Town.  I was welcomed in by two very shy boys.  They introduced themselves to me and thanked me for bringing them the various button books. Jack and Lazaro were working on one of their first collections and I got to hang out and watch them drape on the form.  It is a day I will always remember.  My Italian boss said “these boys are the next big thing in fashion”.  He was right.  So, I have truly been following their career since day one and will always admire them as designers.

Nothing not to love about their new Spring 2012 ad campaign….and the different seating used in the shots are pretty great too!

Shoes…

I had to share this photo.  Yes, I was able to stand in these shoes for 5 hours straight at the Stone Textile Launch party last week and yes they do match the collection (not by accident).  I did slip them off right after the last guest left and our photographer Sammi was able to capture the perfect shot. She is just starting her career in photography and I know she will have great success!  See more of Sammi’s work  on the Stone Textile Facebook Page
