One Room Challenge / Week No. 3

Welcome to week 3!  I wanted to start off by saying how grateful I am for all of the kind words on my recent Lonny Magazine feature.   I was so honored to see our Austin home in the October issue–if you have not checked it out please do so here!

Ok, back to the ORC (play catch up here: Week No. 1 + Week No. 2) We did get a lot accomplished this week.  Perhaps the most exciting part was seeing the wallpaper installed.  Wow, does it look good.  I chose the B+W Storm Print by Lindsay Cowles.  Since we are working with a rental, I did not want to do crazy with painting the walls.  I was waiting to see how the wallpaper looked to decide if we needed to paint the walls.  Luckily we don’t and the white works.  Here is a peek at the wallpaper on the bed wall below:

I also decided on curtain fabric.  Last week, I explained that we are having some vintage nightstands lacquered in a blue/green.  To stay in the same color family, I chose a beautiful turquoise heavyweight cotton fabric for the curtain panels.  I love green/blue tones with black and white and by the looks of my B+W bracelets it’s all going to work nicely.   See below:

Another project we have to tackle is the vintage armoire DIY.  This piece was such a find (only $100!!!).  My assistant, Audrey,  found this and knew it would be perfect for the ORC. Since we are doing this bedroom for my parents (who will be in and out) I wanted to find a functional storage piece for clothing ect.  This piece is in excellent condition and I am obsessed with the brass hardware.  We want to add a little something to it so, we will be lining the inside walls with the extra wallpaper scraps.  Stay turned….

Besides the piece above, I have also found a lot of other vintage treasures for the space.  I love the design lines of this brass stool.  We will reupholster it in the blue marble fabric below for a little pop of color.

I purchased this diamond shaped mirror from Chairish.  We are going to spray paint it matte black…

These marble + brass planters are just as pretty in person as they look on Instagram.  Great additions for the console table…

This week we will be getting the bed from CB2, nightstands will come in, lampshades will be sprayed black (anyone ever done this before?–Tips please!), DIY projects will begin.  Check back next week to see how we are doing!

Make sure to check out what everyone else has accomplished this week!  You can also follow along on Instagram using #oneroomchallenge
